winkelstraat<\/h2>\n<p>Lange tijd was de Boekhorststraat een klassieke winkelstraat met allure. Hier was de gegoede middenstand gevestigd, met \u2018broeken-huizen\u2019, tapijtwinkels, gordijnen, rookwaren, lampenzaken, bedden en matrassen, etc. In de jaren zestig kwam hier verandering in. Het achtergebied verloederde en de Boekhorststraat ging mee in deze negatieve spiraal. De klassieke familiewinkels maakten in rap tempo plaats voor een keur aan seks- en coffeeshops.<\/p>\n<p>Sinds kort is wederom sprake van een omslag. De Boekhorststraat is \u2018ontdekt\u2019 door jonge urbanisten als een trendy gebied. De coffeeshop schenkt weer koffie, de porno-dvd\u2019s zijn vervangen door vinyl langspeelplaten, de shoarma-tent is een hippe vega-lunchroom geworden en in het voormalig broekenhuis is de boomhuttenclub ontwikkeld. Daarmee biedt de Boekhorststraat een hip en trendy aanbod, complementair aan de grote ketens in de Grote Marktstraat en Spuistraat. De Boekhorststraat vraagt hierdoor om een nieuwe inrichting. Een inrichting die enerzijds ruimte biedt aan de expressie en gebruik van het nieuwe karakter, anderzijds vindbaar en onderdeel van het centrumgebied van Den Haag. aanpak","content":"<h2>Samen met de ondernemers<\/h2>\n<p>In de naoorlogse periode is de Boekhorststraat van ontmoetingsruimte tot verkeersgebied verworden. Wegen werden breder, stoepen werden juist smaller en parkeren werd belangrijker dan verblijven.<\/p>\n<p>De herontdekking van de Boekhorststraat als verblijfsgebied raakt ook de inrichting van de openbare ruimte. Om dit transformatieproces verder aan te jagen heeft de gemeente BoschSlabbers gevraagd ook de openbare ruimte weer \u2018up-to-date\u2019 te maken.\u00a0 In overleg met de betrokken ondernemers hebben we een herinrichting ontwikkeld waarbij de straat uitnodigt tot verpozen. Gebaseerd op de schaal van de mens in plaats van de auto. verkeersgebied naar winkelstraat met verblijfskwaliteit<\/h2>\n<p>In de naoorlogse periode is de Boekhorststraat van ontmoetingsruimte tot verkeersgebied verworden. Wegen werden breder, stoepen werden juist smaller en parkeren werd belangrijker dan verblijven. In de nieuwe situatie wordt het smalle profiel van gevel tot gevel slimmer ingericht waardoor kwalitatieve verblijfsruimte terugkeert in de straat. Hierbij zijn de problemen gezien als kansen. Het gebruiken van de zonnige zijde voor terras en groen, rust in het profiel door een terughoudende inrichting en vermindering van parkeren voor verblijf en ruimte. Daarnaast is langs de gevels is een uitstalstrook aanwezig voor persoonlijke expressie als reclameborden en gevelterras. Alle functionele onderdelen van de straat, zoals parkeren, fietsnietjes, prullenbakken, terrassen en bankjes, zijn in 1 strip georganiseerd. Hierdoor is het profiel overzichtelijk en leesbaar voor de gebruiker. In de strip is ruimte ontstaan voor bomen die de straat aantrekkelijker maken en zorgen voor een beter microklimaat. Waar restruimte ontstond, heeft een klimaattuin plek gekregen op een centrale positie van de straat, herkenbaar en groen.
