gemeente Woerden vroeg ons een uitwerking hiervan te maken voor de Hoge Wal, een voormalig bastion in de vesting Woerden die nu zowel de historische Algemene Begraafplaats als de Rooms-Katholieke De vorm en omvang van de begraafplaatsen wordt daarbij als representant van een nieuwe tijdlaag gerespecteerd. Door een nieuw ontwerp van het talud kan er aan de buitenzijde gewandeld worden en wordt de historisch scherpe bastionvorm weer herkenbaar. Nieuwe paden, heggen en bomen zorgen voor een toegankelijker en verzorgder uitwerking","content":"<h2>Escarpe, hagen en oevers<\/h2>\n<p>De escarpe, een vlakke zone tussen bastiontalud en waterlijn, wordt aan beide Bastions toegevoegd aan de Singelzijde in de vorm van een vlakke teen onder aan de wal. Deze strook kan tevens dienen als wandelpad en onderhoudspad voor zowel de beschoeiing als het talud. De oever wordt in scherpe lijnen uitgevoerd.<\/p>\n<p>In het ontwerp komen de bomen te staan op de oorspronkelijke plaats: aan de bovenzijde van de wallen. Gekozen is voor lindebomen, omdat daar al een aantal fraaie exemplaren van aanwezig zijn. De begraafplaatsen worden omgeven door een haag. Bij de Rooms Katholieke begraafplaats is dat de bestaande ligusterhaag, deze geeft privacy en rust op de begraafplaats.<br \/>\nDe begraafplaats Hoge Wal zal worden omgeven door een lage beukenhaag, die aan de bovenzijde enigszins wordt afgeschuind, zoals dat ook bij de oorspronkelijke borstwering het geval was. Vanaf het wandelpad is hier een vrij zicht op de Singel mogelijk.<\/p>\n<p>De bestaande bossages maken plaats voor grastaluds. Een nieuwe trap en aansluiting op paden in de omgeving maken dat het wandelpad op de escarpe toegankelijk is vanuit de stad. Op de begraafplaats Hoge Wal worden de paden vernieuwd en grafvelden worden ingezaaid met een
