In 2005 veroorzaakte orkaan Katrina in \u00e9\u00e9n dag een enorme ravage in New Orleans. Sinds die dag is de stad opgekrabbeld en wordt er hard gewerkt aan haar watermanagement. Nederland heeft een prominente rol in het ondersteunen van de stad in haar strijd tegen het water. Dit leidt tot nieuw watermanagement dat zelfs voor Nederlandse begrippen uniek is.<\/p>\n<p>Als onderdeel van een gecombineerd team van ruim twintig Nederlandse en Amerikaanse experts op het gebied van hydrologie, bodemkunde, watermanagement, stedelijke ontwikkeling en landschapsarchitectuur is BoschSlabbers intensief betrokken geweest bij het onderzoek en ontwerpproces voor de toekomst van New Orleans, met als resultaat het Greater New Orleans Urban Water Plan. strategie","content":"<h2>Van afvoerbak naar infiltratielandschap<\/h2>\n<p>Het plan schetst een vijftig jarenprogramma om een veiliger en meer duurzaam evenwicht tussen het water en de stad te bereiken. New Orleans zal haar watersysteem moeten transformeren van een betonnen afvoersysteem dat water wegvoert naar een fijnvertakt systeem dat water kan infilteren, bergen en afvoeren, waarbij water als kwaliteit wordt ingezet in de openbare ruimte.<\/p>\n<p>In het plan zijn een analyse van de stad, het landschap en haar watersysteem opgenomen en staat er een strategie voor de transformatie van het watersysteem in het plan voor de lange termijn. Daarnaast zijn er vier voorstellen gemaakt voor specifieke plaatsen in de stad om hier het water beter te bedwingen. BoschSlabbers werkte naast de overal strategie tevens aan de uitwerkingen voor Lafitte Blueway, het Monticello canal en de New Street maatregelen","content":"<h2>De straat als &#8216;new standard&#8217;<\/h2>\n<p>Een groot aantal straten in New Orleans is in slechte staat. Er is grote behoefte aan herstel en wederopbouw. Er moet gezocht worden naar een meer ge\u00efntegreerde aanpak. Dit biedt tevens kansen om alle maatregelen in een keer toe te passen. Deze studie is een eerste stap naar een handboek van een \u2018nieuwe standaard straat\u2019.<br \/>\nDe standaard voor een nieuw type straatprofiel beslaat drie gebieden:<br \/>\n1. Integraal waterbeheer;<br \/>\n2. Een georganiseerd, ondergronds watersysteem;<br \/>\n3. Een goede en veilige reis doorstroom voor alle gebruikers op de weg.<br \/>\nDe straat met een \u2018nieuwe standaard\u2019 is onderdeel van een groter en alomvattend systeem, inclusief infiltratie-zones, opslagplaatsen en boven- en ondergrondse afwatering.
